Tuesday's meeting included a presentation from the World Affairs Council

At Tuesday evening's meeting, we were treated to a fine presentation by Rotary's own Mike McCarthy and an old friend and coworker of mine, David Carroll.  They were representing for us the attributes and benefits of the World Affairs Council of Greater Reading.
This organization is one of four in Pennsylvania and one of the hundred in the World Affairs Council of America.  Their mission consists of 1)Creating interest in international affairs, 2)Educating our community about international affairs and 3)promoting awareness of global economics, politics and culture with special emphasis on students
They reach out to the community in a variety ways; presenting breakfast and luncheon lectures, sponsoring a World Quest academic competition for local high schools and providing television exposure to world affairs on BCTV and via YouTube
They have a big event coming up on May 18th. "Roots and Wings" will be honoring three Reading High graduates who have high positions in foreign affairs.
