We had a change of venue last Tuesday in our continuing effort to Support the Muhlenberg Library.  It is worthy of note that Margherita’s is most generous to the community by holding this fund raiser during the winter months.  Show your support for them by patronizing them through-out the year.

We received a double dose of information from Karen Schrieber, former Muhlenberg Rotarian, current Muhlenberg Library Board member and Muhlenberg Township Parks Superintendent.

First we got the Township information.  There is a new Township Manager.  After the rather abrupt departure of Jamal Abadalo, a search for a new Township Manager was undertaken.  This has resulted in the hire of Brian Harris, formerly the manager of Bushkill Township , in Northampton County.  Brian has some Berks County roots, however, as his wife’s family is from the western Berks area.

The spring Flea Market will still be taking place, but the Fall version is probably being cancelled.  We’ve been pretty successful with this fund raiser, but perhaps its time has come and gone.

The River Fest is intending to be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday affair this August.  We need to discuss our club’s level of involvement in this township activity.

Putting on her Library hat, Karen told us the Library is financially solvent as of the end of 2018.  She also spoke about Muhlenberg Township’s new matching funds program for Township business donation to the library up to $10,000.

Also, library furnishings from the Macungie Library, in Lehigh County have been acquired.  This is an upgrade from some of Muhlenberg’s older furniture.

There are still a few tickets left for Muhlenberg Rotary’s sojourn to the DoubleTree Hotel for dinner and Santander Arena for Reading Royals hockey on Wednesday.  Call Lin Seyler if you haven’t reserved a ticket.
